Breaking: Iranian Christian Pastor Death Sentence may be Overturned!

We have just received a report from our source in Iran that a judge has agreed to overturn Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s death penalty sentence. However, at this time, ACLJ representatives have not received official notice from the court and are working to confirm this report. By no means does this mean that Pastor Youcef will be set free without some additional punishment, potentially a long jail sentence or worse.

The ACLJ will continue to pressure the U.S. government, United Nations, and Iranian government to prevent this execution until we have absolute confirmation that his death sentence has been overturned and he has been released from prison. Please continue to pray for Pastor Youcef, his family, and his legal team in Iran.

Just days after Iran released two Americans accused of spying in Iran, an Iranian court has upheld the apostasy conviction and execution sentence of Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani.

The 11th branch of Iran’s Gilan Provincial Court has determined that Pastor Nadarkhani has Islamic ancestry and therefore must recant his faith in Jesus Christ. Iran’s supreme court had previously ruled that the trial court must determine if Pastor Youcef had been a Muslim before converting to Christianity.

However, the judges, acting as terrorists, who have a hostage, demanded that he recant his faith in Christ before even taking evidence. The judges stated that even though the judgment they have made is against the current Iranian and international laws they have to uphold the previous decision of the 27th Branch of the Supreme Court in Qom.

When asked to “repent” by the Judges, Youcef stated, “Repent means to return. What should I return to? To the blasphemy that I had before my faith in Christ?” The judges replied, “To the religion of your ancestors, Islam.” To which he replied, “I cannot.”

It is reported that Pastor Youcef was able to see his children for the first time since March and was in good spirits speaking of how he longed to serve the church upon his release.

Pastor Youcef will be brought to the court for two additional “hearings” on September 27th and 28th for the sole purpose of being called upon to recant his Christian faith. The ACLJ’s sources report although Pastor Youcef’s attorneys will attempt to appeal the case, there is no guarantee that the provincial court will not act on its own interpretation of Shariah law and execute pastor Youcef as early as Wednesday.

Technically, there is no right of appeal, and under Iran’s interpretation of Hadith and Shariah law, Pastor Youcef is to be given three chances to recant. He has already been asked to recant yesterday and today, and is scheduled to be asked again tomorrow after which point he could be executed at any time.

We are continuing to press for the international community to take note of Pastor Youcef’s situation and call for his unconditional release. We are also continuing to work with Members of Congress and are urging the State Department to get involved to save the life of this Christian Pastor.

I am writing to you today about the backward American Flag being used on the Army uniform. Although they are allowed to add the Flag to their uniform, they are not supposed to wear it backwards. The Flag Code spells out very clearly that the field of blue is always supposed to be in the upper left hand corner of the observer's view as they face the Flag. Every American know's this simple rule.


The Army's example of the American Flag is not only wrong but spreading to first responder uniforms throughout the country. It saddens me to see police and fire departments starting wearing a backward American Flag on their uniforms. It's as if they have all forgotten what an American Flag is supposed to look like.


The Army's main excuse for the backward Flag is, if they were carrying an actual Flag into battle it would fly this way in the breeze as they move forward. A free flying American Flag does have a backside. However, that backside shouldn't’t become the representation of our country. The proper side of the Flag blows in the breeze as well and can be represented by a true American Flag with a patch placed on the left shoulder or above the name tag on the front of the uniform.


If gone unchallenged the stand alone backward Flag will soon represent America. If our own government fails to correct it, the only thing it will truly represent is the backward direction our country is moving on so many issues. Please make the Army correct this mistake and have them wear the American Flag we all know and love.

   How USA Together works

USA Together brings together injured service members who need assistance as they recover with the people who want to help them. Here’s what we do:

1. Injured service members, or someone acting on their behalf, such as a family member or caseworker apply to USA Together.
2. We validate the service connected injury by requesting certain documentation be sent to us. Then we help identify the most essential needs to be posted and we do so. Pictures are NOT REQUIRED, but they do put a face to the story and we encourage them.
3. As soon as a request is posted, those who subscribe to the USA Together site get notified via email and will review the request and potentially offer to help.
4. People visiting the site daily also can browse the requests and offer to help.
5. We cannot predict how soon a request will be met nor can we guarantee that it will be met at all. All we can do is get the word out across the country. 

So, how well does it work?

So far, virtually every request posted has been met. Individuals, community groups and other veterans organizations who subscribe to USA Together all get notified and may offer assistance. Businesses and faith based groups have also stepped up. Sometimes this takes weeks, sometimes it happens in a few hours.

And for donors, the good news is that they can offer goods and services (like legal assistance or home remodeling help) in addition to donating money. This means more people can and do get involved. If you do donate money, please know that 100% of what you donate goes to injured service members. We even cover the credit card transaction charge for you. 

A special note to Veteran Service Organizations—we can work together!

Often the injured are overwhelmed trying to find which veterans group can help them. There are so many these days, it’s very confusing. Sometimes they simply give up before getting the help they need-and have earned. If your organization subscribes to our site, you will get notified automatically of new needs as they are posted on our site. This way, the injured only need to post once and the entire veteran service community can swing into action. Please subscribe here. Who Is Ron Paul Really?

Ron Paul was born in Pittsburgh and helped out on his family’s dairy farm as a kid.

He met his future wife, Carol, in high school, where he was a star athlete.

After medical school, Paul served as a flight surgeon in the Air Force and Air National Guard.

Around the same time, he became a disciple of the Austrian School of economics which led him to develop a quasi-libertarian dedication to personal freedoms and desire to limit government’s control over society.

After leaving the military, Paul relocated to Texas to work as an obstetrician. He is said to have delivered 4,000 babies.

Paul believes many of America’s problems can be traced to President Nixon’s decision to take the dollar off the gold standard. This made Paul decide to become a politician.

Paul was elected to his first full term in Congress in 1978. Having delivered so many babies in his district no doubt helped.

Unlike most politicians, public office did nothing to moderate Paul’s rigid ideological positions. He consistently votes against pork-barrel spending for his district and will not take a government pension.

Always you have been told that work is a curse and labour a misfortune.

And in keeping yourself with labour you are in truth loving life,

Work is love made visible.
And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.
For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man’s hunger.
And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes, your grudge distils a poison in the wine.
And if you sing though as angels, and love not the singing, you muffle man’s ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night.
